Airport (FCO) to hotel at Pantheon

We are (hopefully) arriving on a Tuesday morning (hopefully) after a long day of flying. I doubt we will want to take public transit with so little sleep the prior night. Especially since this is a delayed 40th Anniversary trip and we have been planning on reasonably splurging.

There is a shuttle from the hotel for a surcharge. Before I commit to that I was wondering what would be the cost of a taxi from the airport to the Pantheon?

Thanks

Shuttle or Cab Cost from the Airport

In early October, a group of 12 of us will be arriving in

Florence and we're wondering what the cab, or shuttle cost,

will likely be to go from the airport to the Hotel Pendini.

Luggage storage at Florence airport

We are flying into Florence next week and staying in Florence for 1 night, at a hotel in the middle of town. We are then picking up a rental car at the airport and driving to a village.

It will obviously be a little hectic, and our hotel is in a pedestrian zone, so we're wondering if we could leave our large bags at the Florence airport, then retrieve them the next day before we get our rental car.

Thanks!

Itinerary Advice/lakes MXP flight

I’m coming in through Milan, picking up a rental car to drive around Piedmont. We fly in/out of Milan and dropping our rental car before a couple days before we fly back to avoid car return stress on the day we fly back.

Instead of heading to the city, it appears Omenga is the same distance from MXP as Milan city center and planning to spend last 2 nights there.

. Any advice on ease of getting a taxi to the airport? Or am i best to just add a day to Piedmont the stay at an airport area hotel the last day? I hate to be in an airport hotel, but not feeling like going into Milan at the end of the trip.

Thoughts?

Airport transfer LIN - BGY?

Hi!

In july, I will fly to Milan Linate Airport (LIN). I have to transfer to Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) to catch my next flight. I will land at 10:05 AM and my next flight at BGY is at 01:30 PM.

I was wondering if there is an airport shuttle between the two airports? If not, I have to decide wether I'm going with public transport or get an (expensive) taxi. Is public transport from LIN to BGY fast? Is it easy to reach and get on? Can I book a ticket online?

Thank you so much!

Trip Report - August 2021

I am currently in Rome and said I would do up a trip report to share my experiences and to hopefully give an idea of what Rome is like to visit right now.

As background I am a solo male traveler. I am spending 5 nights in Rome before going on to visit Capri (2 nights) and Naples (4 nights). I was in Rome in 2016 but it was a brief visit so I am treating this trip as if it’s my proper time here.

Monday 23 August:

My day began at 3am as I made the drive up to Dublin airport. It was my first time back at the airport since December 2019 and I had a mixture of nerves and excitement. However, everything went smoothly and my flight landed in Ciampino airport on time. I had arranged through my hotel for a airport pick up and I arrived at my hotel (Alberto del Senato) at 11.30am.

After unpacking some essentials I was straight out the door to start exploring the city. As my hotel is on Piazza Della Rotonda, the Pantheon is literally on my doorstep. I was going to visit it first but the line was very long so I said I would wait until later in the day to visit.

I proceeded to make my way over to Piazza Navona but on the way I stopped off to visit San Luigi dei Francesi. An impressive church with the highlight being “The Chapel of Saint Matthew” which has 3 paintings by Caravaggio. I then went on to Piazza Navona to admire the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi and the other 2 smaller fountains. Sant Agnes in Agone was just after closing so I decided to go for lunch myself. I had a larger then planned lunch (pizza) but at least it would keep me going for most of the rest of the day.

I then made my way up to Piazza di Spagna and walked up the Spanish steps and visited Trinita dei Monti. I enjoyed the views from both the top and bottom of the steps. I then started back walking in the direction of my hotel and on the way I detoured slightly to stop off at the Trevi Fountain. It was busy but nothing like the last time I visited. You could sit in comfort and enjoy the view and the atmosphere. There was also barely a selfie stick in sight!

I went back to the hotel for a quick rest and to recharge the phone. I had tickets booked for Galleria Doria Pamphilj for 6pm so I had some time to kill before this. As the line for the Pantheon was much smaller I visited here after my rest. It was my second visit here and was equally as enjoyable if not more so than my first visit. After the Pantheon I went around to visit Santa Maria Sopra Minerva but unfortunately it looked like it was closed for renovations. I did however get to admire Bernini’s Elephant statue outside it.

From there I strolled down Via del Corso to Galleria Doria Pamphilj. This was a wonderful visit. The palace itself contains beautiful rooms and halls which are full of the family’s private art collection. There is an audio guide narrated by one of the family members which helps to guide you around. Your visit is for a 2 hour time slot and I used used the majority of this time here.

As I was on Via del Corso I decided to walk north all the way up to Piazza del Popolo. Most of the shops were closing up for the day but I enjoyed the walk up and simply just sitting down and relaxing up at the Piazza and taking in the sights. On the way back to the hotel I got something light to eat. It was a long (but enjoyable) first day so I decided to have a early night.

Olbia hotels with airport/beach shuttle?

Are there any Olbia hotels with complimentary (or reasonably-priced) airport and/or beach shuttles presently operating? Because of a flight cancellation, we now have to arrive a day earlier, and will have to return to the airport to pick up for our previously-reserved rental car. Hoping to find a hotel on or near a beach with a shuttle to return to the airport so that we won't have to incur these unforeseen expenses (can't amend our current car rental reservation to add a day as that would involve cancelling and starting over, and cars are pricing for more than double the rate we are paying already for 22 days). Thanks for any suggestions!!

Como or Lecco?

we're departing to Italy tomorrow. brother and sister in our 30s. all this trip was booked pretty last minute so practically nothing is finalized.

we want to start our trip in the area around the 2 locations I mentioned but can't decide which is better (and we're departing to Italy tomorrow evening so time is short to make up our minds).

we'll be arriving at Malpensa Airport at night (booked a hotel near the airport) and want to go to either Como or Lecco fir about 2 night before returning to Milan.

we'll be using public transport for the entire trip.

as far as transport goes, it doesn't make much difference since the traveling time from the airport to either of them seems similar.

Lecco was my original plan since it seems there are some hikes around which is something that appeals to us.

looking for hikes around como proves more difficult since all search results are about the entire lake como and that's not helping considering we'll be using public transport.

I've read comments here that Lecco is not that attractive of a town. on the other hand it might be less crowded than Como.

I was thinking maybe taking a day and going from Lecco to Varenna and taking the ferry from there to Bellagio and Menaggio.

I can basically the same from Como as well.

but again, can't find any real info on hiking from Como city specifically.

bottom line, I'm confused. I sometimes find that the "prettiest" town us not always the best to stay in.

can you help with any kind of input?

best hotel near beach near Cagliari

Evening

Me and my wife are coming in September for four days and was wondering what is the best area to stay in. We are flying into Cagliari airport and would like to be on the beach but near a town with bars and sightseeing no more than an hour away from the airport, any suggestions?

Hotel recommendation departing early flight from LIN

Delta has changed our departing flight now out of LIN. We would like to use our Marriott Bonvoy points for the night before our flight. We have a 6:35 am departure flight. Our options are the Moxy hotel near LIN, the STRAF hotel near the Duomo, or the Westin Palace, Sheraton Diana Majestic or Excelsior Hotel Gallia which all seem to be about 20 minutes from LIN. To accommodate for our 6:35 departure we will have to be at the airport between 3:30-4:00 am. Does anyone have an opinion on where we should stay. It doesn't look like the MOXY has many amenities nor a restaurant, while the other hotels do. We are driving back to Milan from Verona and returning our rental car and would like a relaxing evening before our early morning return to the US. Thank you in advance.

Which hotel property to use?

Hopefully, all things will be safe for travel. Our son would like to go for my 75'th BD , DIL 50'th and Granddaughter's 16'th birthday to Rome. We plan on arriving a few (5 days) before them and using Marriott points. A few years ago, we stayed at the Palazzo Naiadia , but not now, no longer a Marriott. Have narrowed down to Rome Marriott Grand Flora or the Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel, AC. Any information or which you would select, or comments. After, our five days, we will move to our son's place he has book for us, for 8 nights, at Villa Spalletti Trivelli. Any comments/suggestions appreciated.
