Film Festival and Burano same day?

Hi,

How do you easily get to the festival arriving from Mestre?

Also is there a normal route to go to Burano from there (or before) in the same day?

Thanks.

(Btw do actors participate?)

Too late to drive from Ravello to Sorrento?

We are thinking about going to the Ravello Music Festival--see the concert on Sat. Aug 21. However, given the roads I am a bit worried driving back from the Festival to our hotel in Sorrento, probably at 10 pm or later on Saturday night. I haven't booked the music festival tickets because I would love your advice. The hotel is non-refundable (yes, I am regretting that already!) and too much to not use.

Venezia Unica City Pass

Hello everyone,

Thinking of visiting for 4 nights. Arriving at Marco Polo and departing by train.

Is this pass worth while? For average person how often will we use public transportation (vaporetto)? We'll visit Murano and Burano.

If we load onto the pass museums visits (senior pass) - do we have to stand in line or are we admitted on arrival? This is especially important for Doge's Palace or Saint Mark's Basilica.

Thank you for guiding.

Bernina Express or Glacier Express?

Hello Fellow Travelers:

We will be traveling from Lisbon to Salzburg (music festival) on Aug 9 or so and we are looking to take a scenic ride through the Alps. Firstly, is summer a good time to do this?

Secondly, is Glacier Express or Bernina Express a better choice? it seems that for each we would fly Lisbon > Milan, then train to the starting point for one or the other, then from the end point to Salzburg.

Alternatively we could do either one on the way back after the music festival.

We are newly living in Europe and hope to explore much more of this fine continent in the future.

Thank you in advance.

Dozza wall paining Festival

Hi,

When is it going to take place this year (2021)?

Renting a cello for visit to Pienza

Is there a place in Pienza or nearby that rents musical instruments for a week? I’m traveling for a festival and do not want to bring my own instrument. Thanks

Rent car or not?

Landing in Florence, spending the night then heading to San Miniato in the afternoon for truffle hunting. Will spend the night there, see the truffle festival then head back to Florence. Should we rent a car or is there a better form of transportation to get there? Thanks!

Preliminary planning

Hi. I am hoping to visit Italy next year and I’m currently on the lookout for reasonable airfare for the end of March/beginning of April. Is this a pretty good time to come weather wise? Rome is a must do and there are several other places I’d like to see and I have to figure out a reasonable itinerary for 14 nights. Florence, Venice, Bergamo, CinqueTerre, Burano, Lucca, Orvieto, Amalfi Coast, San Gimignano are all on my wish list. This will be my and my husbands first trip overseas. I like culture and my husband likes the outdoors and hiking. I would like to also stay in a agroturismo during part of our stay. I think three full days in Rome would be good and the rest divided up perhaps between Florence, Cinque Terra and Orvieto might work? Perhaps flying in and out of Rome/Florence. Does this sound doable?

Destination Advice

Hi,

We are spending some time in Sardinia and have a few days spare en route from Alghero to Cagliari.

Can anyone advise on a nice place between the two for which to spend 3/4 nights?

We will be travelling by public transport between the two so we need it to be easily accessible by train/bus.

All tips appreciated!

Thanks!

Driving from UK to Milan

Hi, We are planning to travel from the UK to Milan by car in August. Would welcome any ideas of routes and where to stay overnight en route. With the Covid-19 situation, we need to book somewhere in advance. The most direct route is our preference although I am not keen personally on the tunnels in Switzerland and would like to avoid these. I am thinking a direct route down through France and then across to Milan?? Advice greatly appreciated.

Scenic Route, Rome to Pienza

We are planning again for our revised 40th anniversary trip next September 2022. Like so many, we were canceled last fall 2020. So, Italy 2.0! I know I will have many questions going forward so I appreciate these forums tremendously. Our plan is for 5 nights in Rome, 5 nights near Pienza, 5 nights in the Chianti area, 4 nights Florence and 4 nights in Venice. I am checking what route would be most scenic? Would it be possible to drive through Bagno Vignoni and San Quirico to Pienza? Is Lake Bolsena worth driving to or by? Thank you in advance for your input. Planning is part of the journey!
