Stay in Lucca

Hi. I am hoping to visit Italy next year and I’m currently on the lookout for reasonable airfare for the end of March/beginning of April. Is this a pretty good time to come weather wise? Rome is a must do and there are several other places I’d like to see and I have to figure out a reasonable itinerary for 14 nights. Florence, Venice, Bergamo, CinqueTerre, Burano, Lucca, Orvieto, Amalfi Coast, San Gimignano are all on my wish list. This will be my and my husbands first trip overseas. I like culture and my husband likes the outdoors and hiking. I would like to also stay in a agroturismo during part of our stay. I think three full days in Rome would be good and the rest divided up perhaps between Florence, Cinque Terra and Orvieto might work? Perhaps flying in and out of Rome/Florence. Does this sound doable?

Is anyone in Lucca now who can tell me about the location of an apartment we plan to rent in September. The Address is 1 Corso Garibaldi. Is the apartment centrally located?

I would appreciate views from the wise heads on this site, on a question regarding the start of quarantine after reaching Italy by car from the UK.

A British tourist enters Italy via France and on DAY 1 of travel stays overnight in Troyes.

The next day, DAY 2 of travel, the tourist drives from Troyes and enters Italy via the Mont Blanc tunnel. Tourist stays overnight in Cormayeur. Next day, on DAY 3 of travel the tourist drives direct from Courmayeur to Lucca and does not stop. Tourist then enters own Italian property for quarantine.

Question: At what point can quarantine be said to have started? There is information on social media which suggests that if Tourist emails digitalised local form to Lucca region health authorities immediately upon entering Italy that quarantine can start then, although an overnight stay in hotel in Courmayeur takes place. Or, does quarantine start the next day when Tourist drives from Courmayeur to Lucca and enters property, and if so is Travel Day 3 deemed to be the first completed day of quarantine?

Obviously, this all has some bearing on when quarantine can be said to be completed.

My wife and I are visiting Italy for 9 days at the end of August/beginning of September (we're an active, foodie couple in our 40s). We'll spend the first few nights in Rome and then are looking at what to do for the last 6 nights of our trip. She's been to the North of Italy before, so tops on my list are going to Naples and the Amalfi Coast. A couple questions:

Should we expect lots of tourists along the coast from Aug Aug 30 - Sept 5? Or will summer crowds have receded by then?

And if it will be crowded, might it be better to base ourselves in Salerno instead of one of the smaller/more touristy spots? *I'm actually considering staying in Salerno regardless of crowd sizes, so we can experience a more 'real' Italy but still have access to the picturesque towns.

We are a ‘mature’ couple traveling to Italy with 11 nights open between Rome & Florence so decided to visit Sardegna in early September. Probably flying into Olbia & departing from Cagliari.

Enjoy white sandy beaches, crystal clear water (who doesn't?), swimming, drinking local wine & local food. Also realize that beaches in Sardegna are rocky.

Prefer to stay at hotels in town to walk to dinner and stroll around town at night. Will rent a car to drive to close beaches during the day, perhaps stay at a beach hotel for 2 or 3 nights if on a beautiful beach.

Any suggestions on itinerary - where to stay & for how many nights? Perhaps 3 locations with 11 nights? The more I read on this helpful forum, the more overwhelmed I become on where to stay.

San Teodoro, Orosei, Villasimius, Isola Carloforte? Departing from Cagliari; how many nights would you recommend staying there?

Will reserve rental car prior to arrival, as well as hotel 1st and last night. Should I make hotel reservations in advance for the rest of trip? September is a busy month and may be more so this year.

I won't be travelling for about a year, but I am already excited and thinking about a solo trip back to Italy. Ideally, I would like to start my vacation relaxing in the Tuscan or Umbria countryside. I am thinking outside of either Lucca or Cortona or anywhere in between. (I'm not fussy, I love the Italian countryside and am just looking for peace, hills and beauty so I know that could be anywhere!) And I would like to do this mainly by train, and without driving myself (I don't want to rent a car). So my initial question then is.... if I fly into Italy, take a train to the nearest small town to where I would be staying, is it expensive to get a taxi to drive maybe 20km or so to a location outside of that small town. Also, any recommendations on what small town country side I should focused on? I know it's not much to go on, but any advice would be appreciated!

Son and I would like to attend the Italian Grand Prix in Monza next year and looking for suggestions. Where to stay with easy access to the track all three days? Best places to sit for race, qualifying, practices? Rent a car? Even tho there are plenty of hotels in Milan, we’d prefer to stay closer to the track. Is it easy to get to Milan if staying in surrounding towns? Are there shuttle buses from Milan to track on race days if we end up staying in Milan? Please share your experiences. Thanks!

I'm on a low-sodium diet for medical reasons & traveling to Emilia-Romagna in September with my bicycle club for two weeks . We will stay at a hotel we have visited twice before for nine nights & I will have no diet problems there but I have to plan ahead for the other days & nights . I can get by on fresh fruit ,,vegetables , & unsalted fish . Is the amount of sodium marked on packaged products at grocery stores ? What can I order at small restaurants ? Is Tuscan Bread which is no-salt widely avaiiable ? Thanks.

We are planning a one-week trip to Sardinia with our 2.5 year old daughter late August. Looking for a small hotel or serviced villa/apartment:

- with pvt beach or at walking distance to a beautiful beach

- with a pool ideally

- not too crowded with tourists

- in a cozy city/village offering easy walks and hikes (not too hilly) and proximity to restaurants

- toddler-friendly activities close-by

My wife and I are traveling to Italy for two weeks. Do you have any suggestions on what to do or see? Here is our route with car and ferry:

1 night in Milano

1 night in Santa Margherita - visiting Portofino

2 nights in La Spezia - visiting Cinque Terre, Vernazza and Riomaggiore

1 night in Florence

5 nights in Amalfi - buss or scooter around the coast

3 nights in Capri - buss or scooter

1 night in Rome

So we were thinking about leaving the car somewhere in Amalfi because it seems that using car in the Amalfi Coast is unnecessary. Then we take a ferry from Amalfi to Capri.
