Timing & type of negative covid test required to enter

Hello, my mother is flying into Malpensa from a list D country while transiting through a list E country, and currently the Italian gov website says travellers must undergo a "molecular *OR* antigenic swab carried out within 72 hours prior to entry into Italy and the result of which is negative". I just wanted to be 100% sure that it's ok for her to take the antigen test (throat swabs) over the RT-PCR test; I am wary of telling her that the antigen test is ok (PCR test is 4 times more expensive where she is).

Furthermore, concerning the 72 hour test validity, I read on the Malpensa website "it is mandatory to undergo a swab test for COVID-19 in the 72 hours *prior to boarding*" --> 72 hours prior to boarding sounds very different from "72 hours prior to entry into Italy" as per salute.gov.it. How does one accurately calculate the 72 hour period? is it required that the test be conducted 72 hours from the time her flight arrives at Malpensa? or is it 72 hours prior to departure (which is what I also read on https://www.etiasitaly.com/pcr-test-entry-italy/). thanks for your help..

Chicago Area Molec. PCR or Antigen/AG Test for COVID Flight

I am traveling to Rome next week on a COVID 19 Flight on United Airlines. Does anybody know where in the Chicago area I can get one of the approved tests with under 48 hours turnaround time? The United app says it has to be a Molecular PCR or Antigen/AG test. The TrustAssure website from United is not very helpful and we have been struggling to find a place to schedule an appointment for the correct test. Thank you!

Is the eMed Binax Now an accepted antigen test?

Does any one know if the self-administered rapid antigen test provided on line from eMed/Binax now is accepted by Italian authorities? This is a swab based test and from what I have read on the Italian Government web site, the rapid antigen test must be swab based. This is the test accepted by US authorities for travel and promoted by most US airlines for convenience. It would be great to know if Italy will accept this too.

PCR or Antigen test to leave Italy

I was told on a post on here last night from someone who travelled back from Italy last week that you had to have a PCR test (and only that) to be able to leave Italy.

That a rapid antigen test was not sufficient and people were turned away from flights back to England .

I can not find anything about this online. I have tried ringing the Italian covid hotline and they say they can't understand English!!! I'm really stuck with what to do as I have already arranged return tests at Naples airport 3 hours before flight and I am worried this won't be enough.

Antigen test in Bergamo

Hi there! I am visiting Bergamo for a week. Before coming back I need to do antigen swab test and get an certificate in English. Can anyone recommend a place?

have read and reread Delta's preflight testing requirement..

I'll be going to Venice in October, Delta Site says a PCR or viral antigen test is accepted.

Can anyone define the Antigen test as one you can get at CVS or Walgrens and get results in hour or so?? - So a rapid antigen test -

They have used several descriptions on their site in several places....

Thanks

Covid Test to fly back to UK

Hello currently in Viareggio and need to book a Covid test to fly back to the UK, it can be a rapid antigen test as long as the certificate is in English and it meets certain specificity criteria’s which most of these tests do. Can anyone advise a place to get the test booked please? Thank you

Molecular/ PCR/ antigen tests

I have a flight to Rome in a couple weeks on United. The website states I need a Molecular/PCR/Antigen test done 48 hrs prior. Silly question but does that mean I can get a rapid test? I’m just so nervous that they won’t take the results and I’ll be denied going.

UK residents that have recently gone to Italy

Hi, can anyone help. I know until end of month Italy requires UK citizens to isolate for 5 days. Hoping this lifts soon but from what I understand I need a PCR/Antigen test 48 hours before leaving the UK & then a test on day 2 when arriving back in the UK but do I need another test in Italy prior to flying home or just the two tests?

Thank you!!
