Sorrento Hotel Swimming Pools Still Open in October?

I am planning a trip for late September or early October 2022 and am wondering if the hotel swimming pools are generally in operation at that time. I have seen only one hotel wesite that specifically says that the pool is open only through September 15. Others are silent on the issue. What have TA visitors experienced that time of year?

Thank you.

11 nights in Sardegna - please help! where should we stay?

We are a ‘mature’ couple traveling to Italy with 11 nights open between Rome & Florence so decided to visit Sardegna in early September. Probably flying into Olbia & departing from Cagliari.

Enjoy white sandy beaches, crystal clear water (who doesn't?), swimming, drinking local wine & local food. Also realize that beaches in Sardegna are rocky.

Prefer to stay at hotels in town to walk to dinner and stroll around town at night. Will rent a car to drive to close beaches during the day, perhaps stay at a beach hotel for 2 or 3 nights if on a beautiful beach.

Any suggestions on itinerary - where to stay & for how many nights? Perhaps 3 locations with 11 nights? The more I read on this helpful forum, the more overwhelmed I become on where to stay.

San Teodoro, Orosei, Villasimius, Isola Carloforte? Departing from Cagliari; how many nights would you recommend staying there?

Will reserve rental car prior to arrival, as well as hotel 1st and last night. Should I make hotel reservations in advance for the rest of trip? September is a busy month and may be more so this year.

TYIA!

Private terrace

Hello!

My husband and I will be in Rome early October of this year for 2 nights. I’m having a hard time figuring out which neighborhood to be looking in and which hotel is best.

I’d like a quieter more romantic part of the city. A suite with a private terrace that has a nice view. We like to splurge on hotels so budget is pretty open.

Would love to hear your recommendations!

Thanks :)

Sicily for 4-6 weeks - mid June-late July; or after August

Hi there,

My family of 4 (kids aged 9 and nearly 5) are planning a trip to Sicily for 4-6 weeks in 2023 (and other parts of Italy too after the 4-6 weeks are up). We will rent a car for most of our stay.

We are planning to come in mid-June, which is the earliest we can arrive that spring.

My main question is: We aren't certain though if we should stay through to the end of July (6 weeks)?

We don't really know what its like in July, as we've been to Sicily in different periods befo

* early-mid June a few years ago (a bit north of Catania, Ortigia, Agriturismo Silitti near Caltanisetta, Marsala, Scopello); and

* a few days in early October for our honeymoon about 10 years ago (Ortigia and an agriturismo called Zottopera near Chiaramonte Gulfi).

We would ideally like to have a relaxing time with the kids in Sicily - and are hoping to avoid extreme heat (e.g. over 33 Celsius) during the middle of the day, crazy busy-ness and the worst of the Italian school holidays.

We are planning to stay in 2 or 3 spots as bases (about 10 days each): something like beachside near Noto/Ragusa, another near Palermo; and possibly an agriturismo in a central region or near a nice village (in a different region) as a third base. With possible weekend stays in Ortigia, Palermo, Cefalu and San Vito lo Capo.

Most places in Italy we'd like to visit mention September/October as ideal timing to visit, which I believe is also true for Sicily. But if we can visit Sicily at the start of our trip, we can leave September for areas like further north like Tuscany, Urbino, Ascoli Piceno.

Too late to drive from Ravello to Sorrento?

We are thinking about going to the Ravello Music Festival--see the concert on Sat. Aug 21. However, given the roads I am a bit worried driving back from the Festival to our hotel in Sorrento, probably at 10 pm or later on Saturday night. I haven't booked the music festival tickets because I would love your advice. The hotel is non-refundable (yes, I am regretting that already!) and too much to not use.

Best value car parking at Civitavecchia

Hey everyone,

Off on my first ever cruise in October - covid permitting.

Can you recommend me a decent car park for 8 days?

We will be driving up from darkest Basilicata the day before and stopping in an hotel for the night.

Perhaps there is a nice (cheap) hotel that will let us leave our car in their car park while we are away?

visit to Pompeii and Herculaneum

My husband and I are retired and we and our son are planning to travel from Rome to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum for two or three nights in late September or early October and had several questions:

Which is preferable as a base - Naples or Sorrento?

When you visit Pompeii - what can you reasonably expect to be able to do after the visit such as a museum or walking tour - same with Herculaneum.

Any recommendations for a tour guide for each place.

Hotel Unicorno or Hotel Paris

Looking for a mid-range hotel in Florence for two nights in June. Would like clean, comfortable beds and breakfast included for myself, my husband and our 18 yr old son.

Anyone have opinions about the Hotel Unicorno vs the Hotel Paris? We will be coming and going to Florence on the train.

Airport (FCO) to hotel at Pantheon

We are (hopefully) arriving on a Tuesday morning (hopefully) after a long day of flying. I doubt we will want to take public transit with so little sleep the prior night. Especially since this is a delayed 40th Anniversary trip and we have been planning on reasonably splurging.

There is a shuttle from the hotel for a surcharge. Before I commit to that I was wondering what would be the cost of a taxi from the airport to the Pantheon?

Thanks

Hotel recommendation departing early flight from LIN

Delta has changed our departing flight now out of LIN. We would like to use our Marriott Bonvoy points for the night before our flight. We have a 6:35 am departure flight. Our options are the Moxy hotel near LIN, the STRAF hotel near the Duomo, or the Westin Palace, Sheraton Diana Majestic or Excelsior Hotel Gallia which all seem to be about 20 minutes from LIN. To accommodate for our 6:35 departure we will have to be at the airport between 3:30-4:00 am. Does anyone have an opinion on where we should stay. It doesn't look like the MOXY has many amenities nor a restaurant, while the other hotels do. We are driving back to Milan from Verona and returning our rental car and would like a relaxing evening before our early morning return to the US. Thank you in advance.

Shuttle or Cab Cost from the Airport

In early October, a group of 12 of us will be arriving in

Florence and we're wondering what the cab, or shuttle cost,

will likely be to go from the airport to the Hotel Pendini.
