Trip to Amalfi and Capri

We are planning to visit Italy this September, going to Amalfi and Capri. We are planning on flying to Naples airport and from there going to Amalfi to stay for a few days and take a day tour to Capri. Another option would be going from Naples to Capri and from there to Amalfi. Which of the two would be a better choice? Woukd appreciate anh input

My trip in Italy

Hi everyone!

My wife and I are traveling to Italy for two weeks. Do you have any suggestions on what to do or see? Here is our route with car and ferry:

1 night in Milano

1 night in Santa Margherita - visiting Portofino

2 nights in La Spezia - visiting Cinque Terre, Vernazza and Riomaggiore

1 night in Florence

5 nights in Amalfi - buss or scooter around the coast

3 nights in Capri - buss or scooter

1 night in Rome

So we were thinking about leaving the car somewhere in Amalfi because it seems that using car in the Amalfi Coast is unnecessary. Then we take a ferry from Amalfi to Capri.

Struggling to pick Positano, Amalfi/Atrani or Ravello?

I'm planning to visit Amalfi Coast in early September and struggling to pick a town to base for 5 nights. I'm trying to list out pros/cons. High on my list during stay: day trip to Capri/Blue Grotto, Hiking (Path of Gods and a few other trails have also peaked my interest), some beach/water time (kayaking, water sports, boat ride), exploring a town or two (maybe via hikes) and of course amazing food. Also would like to be able to move around fairly easily (don't mind stairs). It sounds like buses can be an overcrowded burden during September, so I'm thinking walking/ferries is the way to go. Or do I split my stay? 2 nights in one town, three in another?

If I base in Amalfi/Atrani, is it easy to visit Capri on a day trip? I believe there's a ferry from Amalfi to Capri -- about an hour trip?

Alternatively, if I base in Positano, is it fairly easy to get to Path of Gods trail heads and also ferry/bus to other towns like Ravello?

And finally, what about Ravello? It looks stunning, but would staying there limit my ability (or add a lot of travel time) to visit Capri for the day or really enjoy the beach/kayak?

Appreciate the feedback -- I'm quickly falling into the research rabbit hole and need to make some decisions since trip is quickly approaching.

Amalfi Coast - Need Help

I am planning a trip for next May. Flying into Naples and staying 3 days, ferry to Capri for 2-3 days, Positano and/or Amalfi for 2-3 days then to Sorrento for 2 days. Is this a good itinerary or should I do the opposite of going to Sorrento first and Capri last. Will not be renting a car but doing ferriesor private drivers. I appreciate any thoughts or tips! Thanks so much

Advice on Amalfi Coast Itinerary

Hello - we are a mid-30's couple who enjoy lots of outdoor activities (hiking, sailing, rock climbing), and good food. We are planning a trip to Rome/Amalfi coast over a ten day period in early September and I could use some help on where to stay. The plan:

Sept 4 - Fly into Rome and take the train + car to get to the Amalfi coast

Sept 5 - 10: Spend on the Amalfi coast. This would include: visiting Capri, Rock climbing for a day in Punta Campanella, Visiting Positano and Ravello, Doing the Path of the Gods Walkway/Hike, maybe another hike and visiting a nice beach.

Sept 10-12: Train from Salerno back to Rome, Spend 1.5 days in Rome before flying out.

With this itinerary, I'm trying to figure out:

- Is there one location that we should stay in on the Amalfi Coast or is it better to split it up (e.g. few days in Sorrento before heading to either Positano, Amalfi or Ravello)? Note: I know Sorrento is not Amalfi Coast. I'm also interested in thinking about great restaurants for dinner and if one location would be better for nice dining (and not having to deal with catching the ferry/bus too late.

- Is it worth considering one night in Capri, and if so, the best way to work this into the logistics? I've been there before and definitely felt rushed on a day ferry from Sorrento.

- Is there anything else I'm missing from the list?

Thanks for your help!!

Getting to and back - Capri

Hello,

I am aware that ferry & boat is the only means of reaching capri and back, would you know what the best route is and what time is the latest ferry going back to the mainland? We will most likely be staying in Positano or Sorrento. We would love to have dinner in Capri but unsure if this is possible with the Ferry schedule? If there are late ferrys returning around 10pm, this would be perfect.

Appreciate any help I can get on this matter.

Thank you!

Capri last week of October

Going to Amalfi Coast last week October/first week November (depending on Covid situation). Thought about day trip to capri (from Sorrento) or due to low season rates, spending a night or two there. Any recommendations? Will restaurants, stores, hotels be open?

Beaches in Capri

Hello,

we have one day in capri and head back to positano end of day and was hoping you can help with some inquiries I have.

1- Looking for couples type beach, less touristy - what are some of your favorite beaches to swim in capri and how do you get there from the port?

2- is walking very difficult from Capri to Anacapri or to Marina Piccola?

thank you

Amalfi coast--eastern or western side?

Hello, I am looking for experiences. We will be staying on the Amalfi Coast the last week in September. The plan is to stay for one week in the same location (possibly Airbnb, VBRO or similar). We want a sea view, and are foodies. Walking OK, moderate hills not verticals. Plan to visit Capri and some of the islands. The selection of towns is overwhelming. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Ferry to Palermo

If we decide to take the ferry to Palermo instead of staying overnight and flying the next morning…is there somewhere to leave our luggage when we get in from Capri until the ferry departure?

Thank you!
