Museum pass

Hi all, we've booked our flight to Catania for August 2022 next year for an 8 night stay. As well as visiting the sights in the city itself, we'll be using it as a base to explore the rest of Sicily also via public transport. However, as yet, we've not booked our accommodation (budget hotel, B&B only - no hostels). So what would be the best area(s) in the city to base ourselves? And are there any that you would not particularly recommend? This is will our first visit here and we are a couple in our late 20's. Thanking you for your help.

I'll be flying from the USA into MXP, landing at 7:30 AM in a few weeks on Thursday. Flight out is Saturday at around 5:00 PM from MXP to France. I mostly want to go to Lake Como, but I was hoping to also see Milan city if possible. I will be using public transport and prefer to stay somewhere that isn't Como city.

If anyone has experience, can you please give some advice on what would be the best way to do this? I was thinking either go straight to Milan and get an early train Friday morning to the lake and then straight to airport Saturday, or go straight to Lake Como and then Milan either late Friday night or super early Saturday and walk around for a few hours before my flight. I am open to skipping Milan if the schedule is too tight - I have already taken pictures in front of many churches and fountains in Europe, and I also don't have interest in museums.

I guess my concerns are using public transportation for such a long trip with a lot of transfers after landing in Milan - I could be held up in immigration for hours and maybe the trains aren't frequent? And also using public transport for a long trip on the same day as my flight out - if I don't make a connection, I could end up stuck somewhere!

Could any travelers familiar with covid testing near Catania historical city center or Catania airport share their resources with me? I haven’t made last 2 nights in Catania as of yet. Since, I’m still exploring options that would allow me to enjoy the city as well as be centrally located to bus/shuttle transport to airport and covid testing site. ThankYou so much!

Thinking of visiting for 4 nights. Arriving at Marco Polo and departing by train.

Is this pass worth while? For average person how often will we use public transportation (vaporetto)? We'll visit Murano and Burano.

If we load onto the pass museums visits (senior pass) - do we have to stand in line or are we admitted on arrival? This is especially important for Doge's Palace or Saint Mark's Basilica.

we're departing to Italy tomorrow. brother and sister in our 30s. all this trip was booked pretty last minute so practically nothing is finalized.

we want to start our trip in the area around the 2 locations I mentioned but can't decide which is better (and we're departing to Italy tomorrow evening so time is short to make up our minds).

we'll be arriving at Malpensa Airport at night (booked a hotel near the airport) and want to go to either Como or Lecco fir about 2 night before returning to Milan.

we'll be using public transport for the entire trip.

as far as transport goes, it doesn't make much difference since the traveling time from the airport to either of them seems similar.

Lecco was my original plan since it seems there are some hikes around which is something that appeals to us.

looking for hikes around como proves more difficult since all search results are about the entire lake como and that's not helping considering we'll be using public transport.

I've read comments here that Lecco is not that attractive of a town. on the other hand it might be less crowded than Como.

I was thinking maybe taking a day and going from Lecco to Varenna and taking the ferry from there to Bellagio and Menaggio.

I can basically the same from Como as well.

but again, can't find any real info on hiking from Como city specifically.

bottom line, I'm confused. I sometimes find that the "prettiest" town us not always the best to stay in.

can you help with any kind of input?

We will be in Brindisi centre for 4 days. I am thinking to visit Ostuni by train or bus for a day. Can you suggest other day trips that are easy by public transport from Brindisi? (apart from Lecce as we have already been a couple of times and we would like to visit new places).

I have read that one of the corona measures in Italy is that the capacity of the trains (and maybe other public transport) is limited to 50% of full capacity. This also applies to the regional trains ?

I'm planning to be in Liguria next month an want to walk around Cinque Terre and visit by train from La Spezia, so can start in the morning at one village/station and end at another village/station. Maybe also take a regional train into Genoa.

Me and my friends (~8 people) are planning to visit Sicily from the last week of December until the first week of January.

We want to stay in a villa and not a hotel and because of the weather want to stay at the coast. Because of reasons we need to land at Catania so I searched around this region.

At the moment all the villas of interest are in the southern region of Sicily.

I have two questions:

Firstly, I would like to know a good area to spend new years. I read in earlier threads that Catania is reommended for the most lively time regarding new years eve.

Do you know how long public transport operates around this time? (we will most likely have a rental car but I guess on this day all want to have a drink) I have a hard time finding any information on public transport to be honest...

Also are private fireworks allowed ?

Maybe there is also a city nearer to the south you could recommend for new years eve ?

Secondly, I read in several threads that in the winter season some places aren't as busy so I just wanted to ask if the South region also has these problems (I'm talking about the Pozzallo and Santa Maria del Focallo area and maybe a little to the right and left of it since we have a car)

Hello! Flying into Rome (no other option) and trying to figure out a couple of challenges:

1. Do we stay in Sorrento and launch tours of Capri and the AC from there or do we stay in Positano? (We won’t have a car)

2. What’s the best way to get to either city from Rome? I’ve heard take a train to Naples but from there I have no clue. I’ve also heard to take the train to Salerno but they would require a connection in Naples and tbh I’m nervous about public transport from there.

Suggestions? TIA!
