Stay Away from Alitalia

I had a flight booked with Alitalia from LA to Rome for August 1st. I tried checking in 24 hours before flight on the app and I kept getting flight not found message. I decided to call them and they told me there was no flight and to contact Delta since I made the purchase through them. I waited on hold for almost 2 hours, and Delta verified that the flight was cancelled by Alitalia. Luckily they were able to book us on a different flight. I never received any notification or email regarding the cancellation. Luckily I called them before heading to the airport.

Alitalia Update

I received an email this morning changing the flight number and time of our flight on Sept 25 from FCO TO PMO. The new flight number is the same flight my son is booked on through Delta. It looks like Alitalia is consolidating their flights. So at this point it appears as if Alitalia will still be flying some of their routes.

Milan Linate connecting flight

Hi friends,

Due to a reschedule by Alitalia, we fly from Comiso to Milan Linate, landing at 2pm, and have a flight to Rome scheduled for 3pm.

Is this feasible? Is Linate an easy airport to navigate to ensure we don't miss the flight?

Many thanks in advance,

Kieran

Catania Hotel or BnB .. early flight 6:35am

Greetings

I’m seeking recommendation for my last 2 nights which will be in Catania. Unfortunately my flight was already canceled once by Delta. Therefore the only flight out to Rome is KLM, ticket already purchased.

I’m looking for an accommodation that would be feasible to explore Catania historic city center as well as be able to get to airport in time fir 6:35 departure. In USA it’s recommended to be at airport now 3 hrs preflight. I’m not sure how it works in Sicily? So any hotel resources or airport support direction greatly appreciated .

ThankYou for any feedback in advance.

Hotel recommendation departing early flight from LIN

Delta has changed our departing flight now out of LIN. We would like to use our Marriott Bonvoy points for the night before our flight. We have a 6:35 am departure flight. Our options are the Moxy hotel near LIN, the STRAF hotel near the Duomo, or the Westin Palace, Sheraton Diana Majestic or Excelsior Hotel Gallia which all seem to be about 20 minutes from LIN. To accommodate for our 6:35 departure we will have to be at the airport between 3:30-4:00 am. Does anyone have an opinion on where we should stay. It doesn't look like the MOXY has many amenities nor a restaurant, while the other hotels do. We are driving back to Milan from Verona and returning our rental car and would like a relaxing evening before our early morning return to the US. Thank you in advance.

Overnight layover

Hi,

We are looking to fly from London to Istanbul in late-July and returning in early/mid-August. We're a group of 6 - 5 of us are fully vaccinated, and the other is aged 17, therefore unvaccinated.

Unfortunately, direct flights have skyrocketed in price, and one convenient option contains a booking operated by Alitalia and Pegasus Airlines - luckily all under one booking, albeit it will be a travel agency booking.

The outbound flight will be arriving in Milan Linate, and departing from Bergamo on the following day (with a layover of about 17 hours). The return journey has a 20 hour overnight layover in Rome.

As British travellers, I understand that Italy have imposed a 5 day quarantine until 30 July, but given our travel plans (with proof that can be provided), would we be required to also self-isolate, or is our layover an exception that can permit us to simply check into a hotel and continue with our journey the next day?

Thanks

Airport transfer LIN - BGY?

Hi!

In july, I will fly to Milan Linate Airport (LIN). I have to transfer to Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) to catch my next flight. I will land at 10:05 AM and my next flight at BGY is at 01:30 PM.

I was wondering if there is an airport shuttle between the two airports? If not, I have to decide wether I'm going with public transport or get an (expensive) taxi. Is public transport from LIN to BGY fast? Is it easy to reach and get on? Can I book a ticket online?

Thank you so much!

Flight at Ciampino airport at 7AM, Reliable taxi

Hey

I have a flight back home on June 26th at 7AM an Ciampino Airport.

I have Alessandro Downtown & Bar hostel booked near Termini. I need to leave at 4AM and the question is. Is mytaxi (freenow) reliable? I want to book it day before but I have heard that sometimes they cancel. Also I heard that price is 30 euros but I searched up online some taxi companies and it's alway 50 euros. How does it look like?

30 or 50 euros is a huge difference for me considering it's not my country currency and for me 50 euor is like 250.

Bascially I'm worried that taxi won't come and I won't reach the airport on time.

Early flight from Ciampino

A friend mine has a flight at 6 a.m. in the morning, July 3rd.

Is the metro and 520 bus going all night tonight?

Thanks

Covid test required if transiting only via Italian airport ?

I am planning to fly from the UK to Egypt via a transit flight at Milan Malpensa airport. If I remain within Malpensa airport for just a few hours, before catching my flight to Sharm EL Sheikh, would I need a negative Covid test certificate on arrival at Malpensa or is it not necessary? Egypt allows you to take a PCR test on arrival at the Red Sea airports such as Sharm, Hurghada etc for only $30, which is much cheaper than PCR tests in the UK.

Best way to do 2 days/nights in Lake Como/Milan

I'll be flying from the USA into MXP, landing at 7:30 AM in a few weeks on Thursday. Flight out is Saturday at around 5:00 PM from MXP to France. I mostly want to go to Lake Como, but I was hoping to also see Milan city if possible. I will be using public transport and prefer to stay somewhere that isn't Como city.

If anyone has experience, can you please give some advice on what would be the best way to do this? I was thinking either go straight to Milan and get an early train Friday morning to the lake and then straight to airport Saturday, or go straight to Lake Como and then Milan either late Friday night or super early Saturday and walk around for a few hours before my flight. I am open to skipping Milan if the schedule is too tight - I have already taken pictures in front of many churches and fountains in Europe, and I also don't have interest in museums.

I guess my concerns are using public transportation for such a long trip with a lot of transfers after landing in Milan - I could be held up in immigration for hours and maybe the trains aren't frequent? And also using public transport for a long trip on the same day as my flight out - if I don't make a connection, I could end up stuck somewhere!

Appreciate any insight you can give!

Thank you :)
