The Positano Diaries?

Have not seen any videos from the Positano Diaries since May 16th? Loved them as they were so informative and made me feel like I was there. Hope all is well for the nice lady and her family.

Itinerary review help

First, i should mention that i'm somewhat ADHD when on vacation so i don't like to stay in one place too long but would rather look, absorb, take some pics and keep moving along. With that said i'm very active and walking is certainly ok with me. I would be taking trains mostly . I have the following thus far:

1) Arrive Venice

2)Venice

3)Venice

4)Venice to Bologna

5)Bologna to Florence

6)Florence

7)Florence to Rome ( I've already been to Rome previously but will pick up my fiancé here)

8)Rome to Naples then Ferry to Ischia

9)Ischia

10)Ferry to Capri

11)Capri

12)Ferry to Positano

13)Positano

14)Positano

15)Positano

16)Sorrento

17)Sorrento to Naples Depart home

Thanks for any suggestions and advice. Was wanting to hike around Cinque Terre for the day at some point but was unsure if it was worth the effort since the train takes a long time to get there. Thanks

Trip to Positano, Capri and Rome

Hey Everyone... Flying to Italy on Saturday, July 17th with my wife for our wedding anniversary. We are both fully vaccinated. I've been doing as much research as possible but can't find certain answers so any help is appreciated! Sounds like to get into Italy, we need our vaccination cards in hand and to fill out the digital passenger locator form. Is that all we need? No covid test required is what I am seeing.

Also - my understanding is we must test within 3 days of departure from Italy back to NYC. With that said, we are currently doing 2 nights in Positano and 1 night in Capri and then 2 nights in Rome (out flight is out of Rome). We wanted to do 2 nights in Positano, 2 in Capri and 1 in Rome but were worried it may be more difficult to find the right covid test in Capri vs Rome? If anyone could help provide info on exactly which covid test we need to get back to USA, that would be helpful. I checked the website and it was very vague. Also, do we just show our results when we check in at Rome airport or is there an online form?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Advice on Amalfi Coast Itinerary

Hello - we are a mid-30's couple who enjoy lots of outdoor activities (hiking, sailing, rock climbing), and good food. We are planning a trip to Rome/Amalfi coast over a ten day period in early September and I could use some help on where to stay. The plan:

Sept 4 - Fly into Rome and take the train + car to get to the Amalfi coast

Sept 5 - 10: Spend on the Amalfi coast. This would include: visiting Capri, Rock climbing for a day in Punta Campanella, Visiting Positano and Ravello, Doing the Path of the Gods Walkway/Hike, maybe another hike and visiting a nice beach.

Sept 10-12: Train from Salerno back to Rome, Spend 1.5 days in Rome before flying out.

With this itinerary, I'm trying to figure out:

- Is there one location that we should stay in on the Amalfi Coast or is it better to split it up (e.g. few days in Sorrento before heading to either Positano, Amalfi or Ravello)? Note: I know Sorrento is not Amalfi Coast. I'm also interested in thinking about great restaurants for dinner and if one location would be better for nice dining (and not having to deal with catching the ferry/bus too late.

- Is it worth considering one night in Capri, and if so, the best way to work this into the logistics? I've been there before and definitely felt rushed on a day ferry from Sorrento.

- Is there anything else I'm missing from the list?

Thanks for your help!!

Best located hotels rentals in Positano for views + access?

Hello all,

Planning a trip to gorgeous Positano. We understand stairs. We can and will do stairs. But we want to try and hit the sweet spot of a wonderful few and the fewest stairs possible. (surely such a thing exists?)

Looking for a very good+ hotel or rental without too much of a knee-busting vertical climb up hundreds stairs (for example - while the Miramare has great views, it must be accessed via 200 stairs, which just sounds too strenuous to be worth it). We are mostly interested in good restaurants, wine bars, a little shopping and maybe a little beach time. And breakfast / sunsets on a great balcony or terrace. Walking up and down Via Pasitea or Cristopher Columbo would not be a problem for us.

We would like to keep the cost at not much more than $1K per night. Therefore, Sirenuese is not an option, lol.

Not sure about Ancora, either - rooms look pretty dated and it appears only one room has a full terrace with a view. Also unsure about Buca di Bacco. (so close to the beach. Assume it is noisy - am I wrong?)

I’ve checked Summer in Italy for rentals, and, unsurprisingly, there are few options left for our dates in mid-September. ( I do love how this company’s transparency about the number of steps to reach lodgings. Wish there were more options for our dates).

Finally - how long is the staircase from Via Cristopher Columbo down to Piazza Mulini, for example?

I’ve tried research on google maps and have learned that much of Positano is not mapped. Unsurprising since auto traffic is blocked in the town. (Have they ever heard of GoPro, lol?)

Thanks for suggestions!

8 nights in Sorrento?

Hello everyone,

Finally we are getting to go on our honeymoon and booked some last minute flights to Naples in 2.5 weeks time for 8 nights.

We are really struggling with whether or not to stay in Sorrento for the entire 8 nights or to go to Capri (or Positano) for a few nights also. We intend on taking day trips to Pompeii and Herculaneum. To give you an idea of what we enjoy...we like strolling around admiring the scenery, eating nice food and drinking and a fun nightlife; we definitively enjoy a bit of a nightlife buzz!

Look forward to your suggestions :-)

Stephanie.

The ONE Brunello vineyard experience you'd recommend?

We are staying in Montepulciano, but will be doing day trip to Montalcino. I LOVE Brunello.

I realize there are so many to choose from. We will hit Enoteca la Fortezza to taste, but I want to do one vineyard tour. However, we want an experience. I've heard Banfi is large, impersonal - that's not what we are looking for. Yes, I want a good Brunello (is there one that isn't?) but I want more of an experience. We want a beautiful cellar (the older the better), views and a family feel. If I could compare it to Napa/Sonoma in CA - we loved Kuleto (not a very good tour, but the views were unbelievable) and Pride (amazing tour and in the cellars showed us the wines at different ages), but our favorite was a little vineyard in Alexander Valley where a family ran it. As one of the brothers told us stories and even gave us some vegetables from the garden.

We won't want to just taste wine - we want to remember the place, the people, the food, the wine and tell the story for years to come. I've read on TripAdvisor that Tornesi is family run and you can have a meal - seems right up our alley. Pordere il Cocco looked interesting.

What's the one experience/tour that you would recommend ???

Beaches in Capri

Hello,

we have one day in capri and head back to positano end of day and was hoping you can help with some inquiries I have.

1- Looking for couples type beach, less touristy - what are some of your favorite beaches to swim in capri and how do you get there from the port?

2- is walking very difficult from Capri to Anacapri or to Marina Piccola?

thank you

Getting around

We're considering a trip to Naples, then over to Sorrento/Positano/Amalfi before heading to San Cipriano Picentino for a night. SCP is my ancestral home. We're thinking ferry or train from Naples to Sorrento, then bus around the AC as needed and staying in different areas for a night or two.

What's the best way to get to the village of SCP outside of Salerno? Are taxis or Uber/Lyft options?
