Hotel Unicorno or Hotel Paris

Looking for a mid-range hotel in Florence for two nights in June. Would like clean, comfortable beds and breakfast included for myself, my husband and our 18 yr old son.

Anyone have opinions about the Hotel Unicorno vs the Hotel Paris? We will be coming and going to Florence on the train.

Florence Hotel Tip (current May 2021)

Just a little tip for anyone looking at reasonably priced budget accompaniment in Florence ( *not easy!)

We booked into C Hotel diplomat for 5 days at around €50 euros per night with breakfast.

However, when we arrived we found it is closed at present, and there was a note on the door redirecting us to its sister hotel next door.

This is the ambasciatori hotel florence and it’s a much nicer hotel, where the rooms seem to go for well over double that.

I assume it’s temporary due to low numbers/ keeping costs down on running several hotels.

But it’s a nice little bonus for anyone on a lower budget and I can highly recommend it. Nice staff, great place, located right by the train station.

We also got a room upgrade to a larger room with a balcony view over the Duomo!

Thought I would share the luck for anyone looking at the meme to. Obviously can’t guarantee how long this will last.

Thanks again to all those who have helped with planning the trip so far :)

One-week stay with small kid

We are planning a one-week trip to Sardinia with our 2.5 year old daughter late August. Looking for a small hotel or serviced villa/apartment (even a farm stay):

- at walking distance to a beautiful beach with shallow waters

- with a pool / playground ideally

- not looking for big all-inclusive resorts

- in/close to a cozy village or town offering easy walks and proximity to restaurants

- toddler-friendly activities close-by

Any recommendations on the area /place to stay? I'm looking at Costa Rei, Orosei, etc. but really difficult to pick one!

- with a pool ideally

- not too crowded with tourists

- in a cozy city/village offering easy walks and hikes (not too hilly) and proximity to restaurants

Supporting local Venetians

I’ve asked a lot of questions and everyone has provided great recommendations on things to do and their favorite spots or places to eat. We’ve got the majority of our trip planned.

However….we read that Venetians have been leaving and that many shops and restaurants are run by foreigners / companies coming from the mainland.

We’d like, as much as possible to support Venetian owned businesses and restaurants. Do you have recommendations for restaurants or shops? We are staying in San Polo and will primarily be there, Dorsodouro and San Marco.

It is just our preference to support locals if we can.

Club hotel or grand hotel smeraldo beach? (Or Palau)

Hi I’m really torn between club hotel Baja Sardinia or grand hotel smeraldo beach. (OR, a non-beachfront in Palau). Could anyone offer advice or insight? I want somewhere fun/centrally located to bars and restaurants and beaches (won’t have a car). Thanks in advance!

Sardina. Snorkling, cosy village, accessable beaches. Where?

I am going two weeks to Sardinia week 30/31 with my family (kids 11 and 17). We want to stay two different places that needs a pool. Not hotel, but cosy places (Airbnb ect). The area must be close to good beaches for snorkling, but it has to be accessable by car. We cant do long hikes with our 11 years boy.

Which area of Sardinia can you recommend out there ?

Keywords

• Want to stay a cosy place with pool in a nice small town where we by foot can visit small reastaurants ect.

• Not to far from good beaches. We hire a car, but we don’t want to drive more than an hour to reach beaches ect.

• Good beaches, with good opportunities to snorkel (not only sand 😊)

• Which area og Sardinia is best. East, northeast, south….?

Thanks 😊

Restaurant advice near Pantheon area

Looking for suggestions for nighttime dining in the Pantheon/ Navona area. I would like authentic restaurants that have either inside dining with interesting ambiance (brick vaulted ceilings, medieval features, etc or just plain cozy! ) or outside with great people watching and comfortable seating. Ambiance is top priority along with an authentic menu. Cost not at important as atmosphere. I always like to make a reservation for the first night in a new area then discover the rest of the restaurants as we walk during the following days. Suggestions?

Advice for a month-long visit?

We had a short stay in Modena a few years ago, and we (American couple in their 60’s) decided we wanted to go back and stay a month.

We plan to rent an apartment and spend our days exploring. Hoping to find a nice market and buy fresh food to make some of our own meals, but want to try a lot of restaurants, bars and coffee shops.

We could rent a car, but haven’t decided on that - we’re thinking bicycles and walking and busses or trains for most of the stay.

Any advice? We’re thinking May/June, but are flexible.

Help for 8 to 10 days in Ischia

Hello my friend and I (late 30's) would like to spend 8 to 10 days end of July in Ischia, it is the 1st holiday since 2 years, so we need to relax and destress from work and Covid. We will be flying from Munich, no car in Italy.

- Is the period too long?

- Is it easy to reach by ferry and move around the island by bus?

- Can you recommend a hotel with beach access?

- If a hotel is not having beach access, how easy it is to access public beaches around the Island? Are there any Covid capacity restrictions?

- Shall we opt for an all inclusive or half board option at the hotel or it is easy to go dine outside? Using Public transport?

- What other recommendations do you have? (wine tours, boat tours etc…)

Thank you

Sandy
