Apartment in Lucca

Has anyone used the https://www.lowcostsicilia.it/ website to book an apartment? I found a great apartment on AirBnb and can book directly with https://www.lowcostsicilia.it/ to save but hope to hear positive feedback first. Thanks!

Myself and my wife are staying in Lucca for three nights 28 Aug to 1 Sept 21. Is is crowded at this time of year? Also, can I get a recommendation for 3 restaurants that do good basic Italian dishes, fish being our preference. Happy to splash out on one night at least. Thanks

We had a short stay in Modena a few years ago, and we (American couple in their 60’s) decided we wanted to go back and stay a month.

We plan to rent an apartment and spend our days exploring. Hoping to find a nice market and buy fresh food to make some of our own meals, but want to try a lot of restaurants, bars and coffee shops.

We could rent a car, but haven’t decided on that - we’re thinking bicycles and walking and busses or trains for most of the stay.

Any advice? We’re thinking May/June, but are flexible.

Slightly strange question, but we are looking to work remotely from the Aeolian Islands in September but are very reliant on good internet to support video calls. I appreciate all internet will be dependent on the hotel / apartment we are staying in, but do you know if the internet connection generally on Lipari and Salina are reliable and fast?

I would appreciate views from the wise heads on this site, on a question regarding the start of quarantine after reaching Italy by car from the UK.

A British tourist enters Italy via France and on DAY 1 of travel stays overnight in Troyes.

The next day, DAY 2 of travel, the tourist drives from Troyes and enters Italy via the Mont Blanc tunnel. Tourist stays overnight in Cormayeur. Next day, on DAY 3 of travel the tourist drives direct from Courmayeur to Lucca and does not stop. Tourist then enters own Italian property for quarantine.

Question: At what point can quarantine be said to have started? There is information on social media which suggests that if Tourist emails digitalised local form to Lucca region health authorities immediately upon entering Italy that quarantine can start then, although an overnight stay in hotel in Courmayeur takes place. Or, does quarantine start the next day when Tourist drives from Courmayeur to Lucca and enters property, and if so is Travel Day 3 deemed to be the first completed day of quarantine?

Obviously, this all has some bearing on when quarantine can be said to be completed.

I won't be travelling for about a year, but I am already excited and thinking about a solo trip back to Italy. Ideally, I would like to start my vacation relaxing in the Tuscan or Umbria countryside. I am thinking outside of either Lucca or Cortona or anywhere in between. (I'm not fussy, I love the Italian countryside and am just looking for peace, hills and beauty so I know that could be anywhere!) And I would like to do this mainly by train, and without driving myself (I don't want to rent a car). So my initial question then is.... if I fly into Italy, take a train to the nearest small town to where I would be staying, is it expensive to get a taxi to drive maybe 20km or so to a location outside of that small town. Also, any recommendations on what small town country side I should focused on? I know it's not much to go on, but any advice would be appreciated!

Hello 2 of us are going to Rome in Dec. 2021. We will either take the leonardo Express from airport to termini or we'll do the bus to the same. Then it seems we can take barberini metro close to the Trevi fou tain with some walking involved. 8min to be exact. This is not horrible by any means however there are 2 buses within a much better distance to apartment with very little walking. The question that I cannot seem to find an answer too is Can You Take luggage o. These local buses. Their going to Termini. I would think so but I cannot confirm. Does anyone know this answer? We are planning a one-week trip to Sardinia with our 2.5 year old daughter late August. Looking for a small hotel or serviced villa/apartment:

- with pvt beach or at walking distance to a beautiful beach

- with a pool ideally

- not too crowded with tourists

- in a cozy city/village offering easy walks and hikes (not too hilly) and proximity to restaurants

- toddler-friendly activities close-by

Any recommendations on the area /place to stay?

My best friend and I have rented an apartment in Rome for 3 weeks beginning Oct 1.

We're thinking of visiting Cinque Terre for a couple of nights and will be taking a train or other transportation between Rome and CT.

We are both in our 60's, I'm in excellent health, my friend is in good health. I do have a fear of heights & drop offs but we want to do some hiking while in the area.

Can you advise me the best way to travel from Rome?

Where do you recommend we stay and hike that will allow us hiking, taking into account my height fears.

We are optimistically planning a trip to Austria and Italy for December. Our current itinerary has us in Val Gardena for five nights and then we'll head to Cortina d' Ampezzo for five nights the week before Christmas.

One of us skis, but doesn't plan to. We're more interested in winter hiking, and we've found plenty of options in Val Gardena.

What we're not sure about is Cortina d'Ampezzo - because it's ski season and so close to Christmas, we're finding accommodation is quite expensive (and limited - we're looking for a moderately priced apartment) and we've been unable to determine if this area offers ample winter hiking opportunities, or if we'd be better off basing elsewhere and perhaps making a day trip to Cortina d'Ampezzo.

We're experienced winter hikers - not mountain climbers. We've spent many Decembers in Europe hiking (we prefer hiking over snowshoeing) and usually find plenty of trails, but these areas are completely new to us so we're not sure what to expect.

Would appreciate any insight or suggestions.
