Road tripping to northern italy

Hello:

I am considering a trip that covers both the Austrian Alps and the Italian side. Cost-wise, I understand that Austria is in between Germany and Switzerland. What about northern Italy (the Dolomites)? In the past ten years, I have only been to Rome and the Amafi Coast, neither of which offered cheap lodging. It seems that Italy is an affordable country for locals, but not for tourists. I was in other parts of Italy before, but those trips were in the pre-Euro days. I also understand that northern Italy is more affluent than the southern part, and therefore wonder what travel costs are compared to the Austrian side.

I have not decided upon the mode of transport yet. However, should I choose to rent a car, I will do so in Austria or Germany to save $.

I am planning my 8th trip to Italy (covid permitting) early next spring. I will spend time in Florence (3 weeks), Verona (two weeks) and Rome (three weeks). I am looking at a full month in a mid/northern town where I can just relax. Coffee, cigars and the like. Train access is a necessity. My research is leading me to Orvieto. Thoughts please.

My wife and I are planning to drive to Italy this summer. We will leave in late July and we will be staying for 3 to 4 days in Germany on the way.

So this means that the Covid test we get in Denmark before we leave will be more than 48 hours old when we reach Italy.

Therefore I am thinking that the easiest thing to do is get a Covid quick test in Germany so it is valid before we enter Italy. But I can't find much information about how easy it is to take a test in Germany and if you would be able to get it close to the autobahn?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Planning on traveling to Italy for New Years. Specifically Milan for New Year’s Eve. I know that a lot of things could be closed/ restrictions because of covid, but trying to figure out what the best thing would be! Anyone have any recommendations for dinner reservations ? Or places to go that evening?

I will be arriving into Nice in the middle of September. I have a month and will spend 10-12 days in Northern Italy and the rest in France.

My plans are to go to Verona first and then the Dolomites as I think the weather should be better at the end of Sept. Thinking 1/2 nights in Verona, then 4 nights in the Dolomite area-suggestions welcome. Maybe an airbnb and do day hikes? We will have a car.

Then make our way back to Nice stopping in the Piedmont area-again suggestions of a location not in a busy town to make day trips? Maybe also a couple of days in Turin?

Our interests are hiking, history, food and wine.

Any tips would be appreciated.

From what I have read on the embassy sites, a vaccinated US citizen can travel to Italy, I see "Last updated: 05/25/2021 Travelers departing on COVID-tested international flights between the United States and Italy are not currently subject to quarantine upon arrival in Italy. I see the same thing for Greece. But once I've traveled from the USA to Italy and then from Italy to Greece, will Greece have an issue with me because I am not flying direct to Greece? Hello. We are planning our trip next summer, which will be based in Italy since our daughter already has a school trip scheduled there.

We're planning to spend about 12 days in Italy, ending in Venice. We have 5-6 more days to play with, and were debating between going to Switzerland for the first time, or going to Milan/Lake Cuomo (also for the first time).

I'm hesitating to add the Switzerland portion onto our trip, out of concerns that it might complicate our travel next summer for Covid-related reasons. I'm worried about things like a difference in entry requirements, extra testing requirements, etc. We are all four fully vaccinated, but who knows what the rules will be concerning that by June 2022?

Since nobody has a crystal ball, I was hoping someone could at least talk about how easy it was to travel between Italy and Switzerland this summer (for vaccinated Americans, if that is relevant).

My partner, our 14 month old and myself are trying to decide whether to take a trip to Italy next month - one that has already been delayed twice due to covid. We would love advice from anyone living in Italy or who has recently travelled there. We’re interested on how keen people living in Italy are to have tourists at the moment, what the atmosphere is like day to day in terms of covid restrictions and any tips on keeping a very very lively and curious 15 month old happy - one who loves to run about, chat to people and be busy...

My partner and I are in our 30s and well travelled (and have done 8 trips in the Uk since the birth of our daughter). We have both been fully vaccinated and are comfortable using masks outdoors and indoors. We are prepared to have and pay for the 5 covid tests necessary and the Uk quarantine anc our trip is already booked but is fully refundable so the stakes are fairly low. All our accommodation hosts are still enthusiastic for us to come.

We’re starting in Venice then had planned to take a train to Florence before hiring a car anc spending some time in a farm stay just north of San Gimoniano. We fly back from Pisa.

Hoping to spend 10-14 nights in Tuscany next April for the wife’s 50 birthday. We’re flying into Pisa and hiring a car. Been to northern Italy plenty of times but this will be our first trip to Tuscany. I’m really just looking for ideas where best to stay 2-4 nights in each place. Small villages, picturesque towns. No big cities. If people just shout out a few towns I’ll take a look and work out our itinerary.

Hello! I am planning on taking a trip to Italy on February 2022. I plan to be in Venice for the Carnival. My question would be .... it’s RB&B a good option instead of hotels? Also is it better to use train to visit Rome and Florence or car rental ? And finally should I get a tour package for the carnival in order To see most of things ?
