Coronavirus situation

Hi I saw the news unfolded today on the current situation with the Coronavirus in Italy. We have already booked our flights and accommodation for our 3 week itinerary 9-27 Apr to Rome, Sorrento/ Positano, Venice, Bologna, Parma, Cinque T, Florence, and Tuscany. We are travelling on our own (not following tours) and have booked a few bike tours in the major cities like Rome and Florence.

Advice needed to help us decide to cancel trip or just go with it. Thanks

Scheduled trip to Italy Aug.2021 - Will we or Won't We?

We have planned out and booked most of a 2-week trip to Italy. We had to cancel this same itinerary in the fall of 2020.

We are set to arrive in Italy on August 29th, 2021 with a week in a villa just outside of Montepulciano then on to Sorrento and Rome for another week.

Does anyone have a sense of whether hoteliers and villa agents have cancellation mandates or guidelines now that Italy is back at Red Alert?

We want to take it all in while in Italy, and would not want to be restricted from restaurants, have to wear masks most of the time, etc.

PCR covid-19 test in Italy - Synlab - How we did it

We used Synlab for our PCR Covid-19 test in Italy. Can highly recommend Synlab.

We had our test done at 10am in the morning, and received our test results at 7pm the same day. We booked our test appointments 2 days ahead at a location near a larger city. Each test cost us 60 EUR, which was 50 EUR for the test plus 10 EUR for an English translation of the test results. We used the website locate.synlab.it to identify Synlab's lab locations.

The most cumbersome part was booking the appointments. To book the appointments, we used Synlab's iOS app. It worked, but it took a couple of tries till we got the accounts set up correctly, so we could book the appointments. At the test site, we received instructions on how to access our test results from a dedicated website. We downloaded the results as PDF documents from that dedicated site, and saved the PDFs on our phones.

Synlab's iOS app showed all open test spots. The website showed many of the locations to be fully booked, which they were not. The lab experience and speed was excellent. The iOS app and website experience was ok, once one knows how to navigate it.

This was August 2021. Hope this helps someone.

Do you have to have the EU Digital Covid Certificate?

Hi all. Hope somebody can help clear this up a little as the info on official government sites and re-open EU seems a little conflicting.

Do you have to actually have the EU Digital Covid Certificate to enter without quarantine if you come from a Green EU country but is not vaccinated? Our plan was to test (hopefully) negative 48 hours before arrival and bring a Certificate from the test center as proof.

But reading on the official govt site it says that we need to have a EU Digital Certificate and there are no mention of other alternatives. Anybody that has travelled into Italy recently that can shed some light on this?

Advice for Florence portion of our November trip

Hello,

My husband and I will be arriving in Florence on November 30 after 4 nights in Rome. On our trip booked for last September we were planning one night in Siena at an Agriturismo. Now that we are coming during late Fall would you recommend just staying 4 nights Rome/4 nights Florence and just taking a day trip to Siena/Tuscany? Is there anything still growing or in bloom in late November? I already have a voucher for 2 nights at San Firenze Suites but have not rebooked with them yet.

Thank you for sharing your travel wisdom. This will be our first trip to Italy.

vaccinated US citizens entering Italy via EU list C country

Happy Sunday! Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, but I wasn't able to find an answer from recent posts.

My husband and I are fully vaccinated US citizens who will be working remotely from Greece for about 16 days. We'd like to go to Italy afterwards (starting around July 6th), and I'm trying to understand the current regulations. Obviously we are not able to take a COVID-tested flight directly from the US (without a lot of unnecessary flying across the Atlantic!), but this page seems to suggest that we'd be okay to enter having spent at least two weeks in Greece, which is on List C:

"For all those who have stayed or transited in the fourteen days preceding entry into Italy in one or more of the States and territories referred to in List C..."

https://www.salute.gov.it/portale/nuovocoronavirus/dettaglioContenutiNuovoCoronavirus.jsp?lingua=english&id=5412&area=nuovoCoronavirus&menu=vuoto&tab=3

My interpretation is that regardless of citizenship, you are clear to enter Italy if you've spent at least two weeks in a List C country, with the requirement of a 48 hour COVID test. Is that correct?

Thank you all so much!

We have been in Italy for two weeks, still need Covid test?

We are planning on going to Sardinia upcoming Sunday from Genoa. We arrived in Italy two weeks ago with a certificate of a negative COVID-19 test from the Netherlands (out home country). Do we need another certificate to enter Sardinia by boat?

We travel with our camper. We are both not vaccinated and did not have COVID-19 in the past.
