La Mariposa campsite

Hi, bit of a long shot but do any locals know if the site is currently open? I have been trying to contact them for a few months but not getting any response which is very unusual for them. Thanks

Tips for Altominico Family Park

I am travelling to Altominico family park in July with my family (10, 7 & 4) . Do you know if there is bike hire on site or near by and if so what is the cost. I am also looking to see if you can hire a car at the campsite and if so at what cost. We are not hiring a car and getting a taxi from the airport to campsite. Any tips would be great. Thanks

UEFA euro cup in Rome

Hello!

I’m in Rome on Sunday when Italy play against England and I’m wondering if there is any place to watch the game with locals on a big widescreen TV? I watched Italy - Belgium in Florens with locals and plenty of widescreen TVs and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had! So I’m looking for something like that.

US to Italy Travel, Passport Validity

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this. My friend and I are due to travel to Italy next week, both have American passports. However my friend’s passport is due to expire in less than six months, however more than three months after we leave Italy.

The rules with passport validity seem a little confusing, as there’s varying rules in varying places. The US State Department recommends 6 months. However, the Schengen rule is 3 months, and when I did a questionnaire on the Italian Foreign Affairs site, it also said three months for US passport holders. I called Delta and they also said three months is the rule they follow.

From all the official sources, seems like we’re in the clear. So I was curious to see if anyone on here has experienced this or knows of someone who has experience with this. Thanks!

Won't get second shot in time - PCR test for dining out?

So due to some unforeseen circumstances, I will not be able to get my second vaccine shot 14 days before my flight anymore. I've checked and know that I can still enter Italy with only a PCR test, but what about for dining and visiting places? I don't really want to get tested every few days while there... can I still use my first PCR test to visit attractions and dine in restaurants?

Itinerary Advice

Hello Friendly Travelers!

We will be in Florene from September 15th - September 19th. Although we are staying in Florence, we are allocating 1 full day for more "tourist" sites. We have been to Florence previously and saw the Uffizi (although somewhat quickly), Accademia, and climbed to the top of the Duomo. This time around we are going with a couple friend of ours who have not been to Florence, but also open to whatever (one is more into museums than the other). That all being said...

Initially I was trying to decide with whether to go back to the Uffizi or to do the Palace Pitti and the Boboli Gardens. I ultimately decided on the Palace and the Boboli because I have not yet seen it and our friends our open. 1. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

.2. I have now realized that the gardens open at 8:15 AM but the Palace does not open until 1:30 PM (I believe). As I really want to make the most of our day, I am wondering, 1. How long does one need at the gardens? and 2. Could we potentially do the gardens in the morning, walk over and do the duomo and grab lunch and then walk back to do the Palace around 2? I know it is kind of non-sensical to walk back and forth, but it really is not that far and we are into the additional "exercise." Again, thoughts on this would be very helpful.

6 months on passport

I’m posting this for information as we had mixed messages before leaving for Italy.

2 of my children only have (just under) 5 months left on their passports. Before booking Ryanair flights to Italy I checked the gov.uk website and Ryanair website that both stated 3 months left on passports was needed. When we came to check in online with Ryanair, there is tick box to confirm you have 6 months left on your passport. Also stated in several places that you must have 6 months remaining. Various further web searches gave both answers. Calling Ryanair I was told, yes it had to be 6 months and we would not be able to travel. Having already booked airport hotel, parking and Covid tests we decided to try to fly.

(We had our Covid tests with collinsons at Stanstead which were excellent and efficient- they take swabs, email results sent in 30 minutes)

The result is - we are in Italy. No one cared/ mentioned the less than 6 months remaining on the passports.

Incidentally no one asked to see our Covid results (they asked if we’d had them before checking in but no evidence asked for)

Hope this helps someone. We had a very stressful preceding 48hours!

Fiumicno Covid Test Times

We have a 11:55 flight back to the US on 24 September. We went through the testing in June at FCO, and we found it simple and not so time consuming (30 minutes total). We were thinking about getting tested at the Red Cross Termini site, but the lines both days have been soooo long. We want to stay in Rome our last day as long as we can, so we’d like to test in the morning before our 11:55 flight. Can anyone give us a heads up on testing lines and length of time for process in the morning? We’d tested at 14:00 the last time , and it wasn’t that busy. We don’t want any surprises when we show up. Thanks!

Supporting local Venetians

I’ve asked a lot of questions and everyone has provided great recommendations on things to do and their favorite spots or places to eat. We’ve got the majority of our trip planned.

However….we read that Venetians have been leaving and that many shops and restaurants are run by foreigners / companies coming from the mainland.

We’d like, as much as possible to support Venetian owned businesses and restaurants. Do you have recommendations for restaurants or shops? We are staying in San Polo and will primarily be there, Dorsodouro and San Marco.

It is just our preference to support locals if we can.

Road to Castellucio

We were in Castellucio 4 years ago, driving in and out from Norcia, and the road was only open at set times.

I was wondering if any other roads were open now, or if everything was open. I'm interested in driving in from the north and driving out towards Amatrice and L'Aquila this Friday.

Thanks!
