Change in plans - PLF

Hello. We hope someone can help us.

We are in Italy and have been for a week now but our plans have just changed so we Will have our last Night in Milano instead of Tuscany.

Does anyone know if we have to do anything with the PLF then? We have not written the hotel in and can not change the PLF now.

Best regards

Best SIM card for travellers in Italy

What is the best SIM card for travellers in Italy? ( I know this question has been asked before but it was awhile ago and plans may have changed). We would require data, text messaging, and possibly the odd call to Canada.

Thank you!

Predictions After 30th August

My partner & I are due to fly September 4th spending a week on the Amalfi Coast. I know impossible to say but what percentage wise do you think Italy will lift restrictions for UK citizens? I have booked a hotel in Croatia as a back up but it means then swapping flights 5 days before travel. Either way its such a pain as I could change to Croatia now then Italy lifts restrictions (sods law) or keep to Italy hoping things change but then run the risk of no availability for flights to Croatia at last minute or expensive. However there is still availability on flights for Croatia in August so should be fine to book at last minute for September. Taking a gamble!

Bellagio Lake Como - current situation with COVID-19

We have currently have plans in place for our annual one week stay in Bellagio at the beginning of September. Can anyone advise what the current situation is due to COVID-19? Are restaurants, shops etc re-opening and getting back to some sort of normality ? Is public transport operating as normal - buses, ferries etc ? Any information much appreciated as we need to decide whether to go ahead with our plans or postpone to next year. Many thanks.

My trip in Italy

Hi everyone!

My wife and I are traveling to Italy for two weeks. Do you have any suggestions on what to do or see? Here is our route with car and ferry:

1 night in Milano

1 night in Santa Margherita - visiting Portofino

2 nights in La Spezia - visiting Cinque Terre, Vernazza and Riomaggiore

1 night in Florence

5 nights in Amalfi - buss or scooter around the coast

3 nights in Capri - buss or scooter

1 night in Rome

So we were thinking about leaving the car somewhere in Amalfi because it seems that using car in the Amalfi Coast is unnecessary. Then we take a ferry from Amalfi to Capri.

EU is open to USA citizen who are vaccinated...but

why italy is not? it still says 10 days quarantine rule! I am flying next week and still so much uncertainty! Any clue when and if italy will change quarantine requirements soon?

Potential EU travel ban for US citizens

Some media are reporting the possibility of EU travel ban for US citizens.

https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/eu-considers-removing-us-from-epidemiologically-safe-countries-list-plans-to-introduce-entry-ban/

We are scheduled to travel to Italy on 19 Aug from USA.

How likely do you think it is that Italy will ban US visitors by then? Do you think that fully vaccinated visitors from US would be allowed, or is it likely to be a complete ban for all?

I know that no one knows at this point, so I am just asking for speculation.

Is Viater a good choice for day trips ?

Hi all,

I am in the beginning stages of making plans for my late May, early June trip to Rome. I have decided on two side trips from Rome, Naples and Florence. While I am sure Florence is beautiful, and I will spend time roaming, I am also using Florence as a base for a few days, to take some bus day trips., to enjoy the countryside of Tuscany, and smaller towns. The one that I really want to go on will include Cortona, and Arezzo.

is this a good tour group to research ? if not, any suggestions, and also is it ok just to wait until I get to Florence to book these, or better plan more ahead.

Thanks for any help....

Covid PCR testing in Italy for visitors

Planning to visit Tuscany next week and will need to undertake a Covid PCR test before returning to UK. A few questions about the tests:

where can I get a test in Tuscany and how do I organise it ?

are the results available in English or French ?

what is the time from test to results ?

Many Thanks,

Roger

Hotel recommendation departing early flight from LIN

Delta has changed our departing flight now out of LIN. We would like to use our Marriott Bonvoy points for the night before our flight. We have a 6:35 am departure flight. Our options are the Moxy hotel near LIN, the STRAF hotel near the Duomo, or the Westin Palace, Sheraton Diana Majestic or Excelsior Hotel Gallia which all seem to be about 20 minutes from LIN. To accommodate for our 6:35 departure we will have to be at the airport between 3:30-4:00 am. Does anyone have an opinion on where we should stay. It doesn't look like the MOXY has many amenities nor a restaurant, while the other hotels do. We are driving back to Milan from Verona and returning our rental car and would like a relaxing evening before our early morning return to the US. Thank you in advance.

Milan, Cinque T., Tuscany, Venice - What to book in advance?

Hi everyone,

We are scheduling a 1-month trip to Italy in August, including the below spots.

While we will of course make advance bookings for rooms according to our itinerary, we are interested to learn whether there are any additional things you highly recommend booking in advance. (e.g., Last Supper in Milan, scooters in Tuscany, ...)

Of course we realize this depends a lot on what we will do exactly, but that is something we are still planning over the next weeks. Therefore, any suggestions on 'what to definitely book in advance' for the below destinations would already be very much appreciated.

- Milan

- Cinque Terre

- Pisa (optionally also Lucca, both on the way to Siena)

- Tuscany (incl. Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Chianti, Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Saturnia ; no Firenze as we've been there before)

- Bologna (night stop on the way to Venice)

- Venice

- Verona (night stop on the way to Como)

- Como

Additionally, any additional comments / tips on the itinerary above are of course also very much appreciated.

Thank you,

TraVeL
