Traffic Tickets from Italy - a Scam?

HI there

I spent a week in Italy in Bologna, Verona and Pisa in July 2016. In January 2017, I have received a whopping 7 tickets on the mail (I live in the US) from the different municipalities. They all are asking for payments for strange infractions that I don't even understand. I have requested information/prrof from the website they provided on the notices and no answer. All they responded is PAY. They also immediately increase penalties if you don't send the money withn 5 days. The total amount is over $1000 if you add the international wire transfers. To me this seems a total scam. I keep questioning myself about validating legal scam. Also they don't accept credit cards and only wire transfers which are expensive. I wanted to get your opinion. in the US, you have a process by which you can schedule a hearing and dispute this if needed. Here, they give you 5 days to pay and when I requested proof, no answer. I am reluctant to be scammed. What would happen if I don't pay? Will this be at one point, reported on credit collection agencies if you don't pay? Spending $1000+ on tickets that you don't even know what they are for, seems absolutely ridiculous. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

David

Trains in Italy

We will be traveling to Italy in August and are planning to take the train from Milan to Vicenza.

After staying in Vicenza for 5 nights we want to go to Rome from Vicenza by train again.

From what I understand I should reserve these tickets in advance and I don't know which website to use to do so.

Can someone tell me the right website? Do I use the same website for both these tickets?

Thank you very much for your help

Last Supper Tickets

Currently tickets are only available through Sept 30, 2021 on the Vivaticket website. Does anyone know if, and when, tickets will be available for Oct?

Website glitch for Doge’s Palace?

Hello,

I am on the palazzoducale.visitmuve.it site. I select the Palazzo Ducale and then I select the date I want. However, on the next page you have to select how many tickets you want and I cannot get the number to increase. It is showing tickets available on my date but I cannot select them. It’s almost like the site has a glitch. Is anyone else having this issue, or have they turned off tickets due to Covid? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Travel to Italy in September 2021

We are traveling to Italy for our 25th Wedding Anniversary - we will be going from Rome, to Cinque Terre, to Florence, to Venice and Milan. We plan on traveling exclusively by train. Is there a need to buy any/all tickets in advance? Is a pass worth considering or do we by individual tickets for each journey?

Thanks in advance!

Booking tickets in advance (not Colosseum/ Vatican Museum)?

We are going to spend several days in Rome in the first half of September. We aleady booked the tickets to Colosseum and Vatican Museums, whicha re the most popular. We decided not to go to Galeria Borghese (due to time restrictions they impose).

On website of many other attractions (e.g. Caralla Baths, Capitalini Musea) it is said that one should book in advance. However, is it really necessary, or one may just buy tickets in the ticket office and enter? We would like to have as much flexibility as possible.

Documents for Arrival In Italy Question. Urgent.

Hello all:

Has anyone flown into Italy since July 29th, or is anyone flying in prior to Monday? I am getting conflicting information on what is needed to get through Italiian customs, from and from very smart travel sources.

We are Flying into Italy on Tuesday. 5 of us. My wife, 3 boys 15, 13, 11. Trip of a lifetime, and celebrating my wife beating cancer last year. This trip was delayed a year bc of Covid.

Everyone except my 11 year old is vaccinated. I understood that all we had to do was bring our vaccination CDC Cards with us to enter. And my youngest simply needed the antigen rapid test.

However, I'm a centurion card member. And a senior staff member at Amex Centurion, with 30 years experience, and massive expertise in Italy, disagrees. He said we all need PCR tests (they cost 250 each), and we won't be allowed into Italy without it. Here is the email I just got 2 hours ago.

=======

"To recap, the Italy Green Pass requirements for US travelers to Italy are ALL of the following:

Your official Covid Vaccine card as authorized by the CDC. Carry this everywhere, as you will need to produce for dining, museums, shops, etc.

Proof of negative Covid PCR test for each traveler taken within 3 days of flight departure to Italy.

Same negative Covid PCR tests for each traveler taken within 3 days of flight departure back to U.S.

FAILURE TO HAVE YOUR VACCINE CARDS AND PROOF OF NEGATIVE TESTS UPON ARRIVAL TO ITALY WILL RESULT IN YOU NOT BEING ADMITTED INTO THE COUNTRY VIA ITALIAN CUSTOMS.

I left you a message stating that your 11 year old son does not have to have vaccine card, as he is too young for vaccine, which is the same for Italy. HOWEVER, he WILL have to have a negative Covid test within 48 hours of going to a museum, cultural attraction, and indoor dining.

Which means since you are in Rome for 10 days he will need multiple tests to continue to visit museums."

=====

Has anyone just landed in Rome that can tell me if this is correct? Or is anyone traveling before Monday I feel sick about this. Delta says only CDC Cards needed for those the are vaccinated. I would rather not pay the $1250. And don't want my son to be swabbed every two days. But more than anything just want the right answers. Thanks in advance.

vaccinated US citizens entering Italy via EU list C country

Happy Sunday! Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, but I wasn't able to find an answer from recent posts.

My husband and I are fully vaccinated US citizens who will be working remotely from Greece for about 16 days. We'd like to go to Italy afterwards (starting around July 6th), and I'm trying to understand the current regulations. Obviously we are not able to take a COVID-tested flight directly from the US (without a lot of unnecessary flying across the Atlantic!), but this page seems to suggest that we'd be okay to enter having spent at least two weeks in Greece, which is on List C:

"For all those who have stayed or transited in the fourteen days preceding entry into Italy in one or more of the States and territories referred to in List C..."

https://www.salute.gov.it/portale/nuovocoronavirus/dettaglioContenutiNuovoCoronavirus.jsp?lingua=english&id=5412&area=nuovoCoronavirus&menu=vuoto&tab=3

My interpretation is that regardless of citizenship, you are clear to enter Italy if you've spent at least two weeks in a List C country, with the requirement of a 48 hour COVID test. Is that correct?

Thank you all so much!

Buyer beware "italy car rent"

I had a trip to Rome in mid-May 2021. I rented a car for 76 euros with this "italy car rent" company that came up on a kayak search for pick-up at Fiumicino (FCO) airport. I had a doubt but went with them anyway. When I got there, they gave me a car full of marks and scratches with their list and pictures of "pre-existing" damages, some of them barely visible, which I had to study and then I would be responsible for any other damages. When I returned the car, they found two other miniscule scratches that they claimed weren't there before and charged me another 100 euros.

This company is a total scam! Do NOT rent from them.

Foreigner Entry Rules for Italy - September 2021

Hi all,

My wife and I hope to enter Italy next week and dont fully understand the current rules.

We are Australian Passport Holders, full vaccinated more then 14 days ago (one Astra Zeneca and one Sinovac). We have been in Indonesia before traveling to Europe and our last 17 days ahve been 5 days in Turkey and now 12 days in Croatia. We will travel directly from Croatia to Italy.

Can we enter Italy quarantine free? If not, would extending to 14 days in Croatia help and/or would having a current PCR test be required or helpful.

Thanks for any helpful advice as much of the online information refers to EU citizens or is a little hard to decipher.

Italy itinerary suggestions

Hi! We have been to Italy a few times, mainly Venice and Rome with trips in Tuscany, Florence, Verona, and Naples. At this point, I'm looking to go back for a mix of adventure and relaxation, going to 2-3 destinations over the course of ~9 days. What we can't determine is where...places we are interested is: Capri, Positano (and nearby areas), Sorrento, sardegna, bari, and lake guarda. Any suggestions on where to focus or not focus would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
