There has been so much said and written about the problem of monstrous cruise ships in Venice, not least on this forum. But if the New York Times is to believed, this time a ban is actually being imposed! https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/02/world/europe/italy-venice-tourism-cruise-ships.amp.html
We are flying into Rome/Fum, Airport on 25 Sep 2021 and would like to be driven to Venice. Returning (for a cruise) out of ROME (CIVITAVECCHIA) 28 Sep 2021. Let me know how/where to find someone to drive us. 2 People, 6 Bags.. Maybe someone would like to share the ride both ways (who are also taking a cruise)? Steve/Jan, 60, Palm Coast, FL
Edited: 7:02 pm, June 20, 2021Hey everyone,
Off on my first ever cruise in October - covid permitting.
Can you recommend me a decent car park for 8 days?
We will be driving up from darkest Basilicata the day before and stopping in an hotel for the night.
Perhaps there is a nice (cheap) hotel that will let us leave our car in their car park while we are away?
Does anyone know the cheapest way (and how much) to get from Marco Polo Airport to the cruise terminal.
Getting off a cruise ship 7:00 am And looking to fly to Prague. What Airline with non stop schedule.
Hello and thanks in advance. We are going on a cruise in October that does not have enough Italy so want to fly over Early (6-7 days) and get a VRBO or Air BnB and take day trips and do day experiences.. Do you think we will be ok? If we book tours will we be able to navigate getting to where they meet? Will we make out ok in grocery stores? DO they have or do we need Uber or something similar? Are there areas to look for or avoid when seeking housing?Any suggestions or tips of things to do or day tours from Naples would be appreciated- especially ones you have done. Thanks so much- I know I have asked a lot of questions..any answers to any questions greatly appreciated.
PS. We have been to Tuscany area before and some other cities so decided to base here. Might be interested in a cooking experience one day if anyone wants to guide us on that as well
Edited: 1:37 pm, May 22, 2021Hi, what are the travelling options from Augusta port to Ortigia? Is there a train station close to the port? Do i have to stop at Syracuse first? From where can i find the train schedule? Thanks
Hi
I'm starting to plan a trip to Sicily and the Aeolian islands in early September (covid permitting of course) and I'd be grateful for some advice.
We're planning to fly into Catania Airport on an early morning flight from London, then head straight to Milazzo port to catch a ferry to Lipari and then stay as follows:
4 nights Lipari
3 nights Panerea
2 nights Taormina
Just wondering what's the best way to travel when we get to Catania? We need to get from the airport to Milazzo Port and then from Milazzo to Taormina, and finally from Taormina back to Catania airport to catch our mid-morning flight back home. Would we be best to hire a car for the whole duration and pay to park it for a week at Milazzo while we're in the Aeolian islands, or can we do everything easily by bus/public transport? And would we be missing out by not having a car to explore the area around Taormina?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
we are traveling to Naples in October 21 and would like to know if we could still catch a ferry on the 5th October to Sorrento and return on the 9th October?? or has ferry service finished by then
would be grateful if someone could let us know
I am planning a trip for late September or early October 2022 and am wondering if the hotel swimming pools are generally in operation at that time. I have seen only one hotel wesite that specifically says that the pool is open only through September 15. Others are silent on the issue. What have TA visitors experienced that time of year?
Thank you.
