We'll be landing in Rome and renting a car in mid-July, which we have done many times in the past. It's generally the most painful part of our trip -- you're so exhausted from landing, it's hot and you're sitting in that terribly depressing oddly shaped room with a bunch of other grumpy exhausted people waiting a ridiculous amount of time while people fill out enough paperwork to gain a mortgage in order to rent a car.
My question is, are any of them faster/more efficient than the others? I think SixT usually has the best prices, but we'd pay more if it meant getting through there faster. One year we were told to go to the train station instead (we had stayed in Rome first and then spent a week elsewhere). That was a two hour wait for a car as well, so don't believe the hype about it being better there.
