US Citizen, coming via Turkey !

Hi dear, I know there is too much info out here that's confusing me to some extent. I am fully vaccinated in US and coming to Rome on Sep 15 via Turkish Airline after staying 13 days in Turkey.

Will I get entery or not ? I see that Italian govt recognizing CDC vacc certificate as green pass or may be i am wrong. Please clarify. Thanks in advance.

Cruise Port

Has the cruise port opened up to cruises? We are planning on taking an October cruise out of here.

Cinque Terre & Florence OR Dolomites & Venice - Mid October

My wife and I had an a trip planned from Oct 17-25, flying into Florence, traveling up through Cinque Terre, and ending in Lake Como, then flying out of Milan.

But due to airline issues we now have to begin our trip in Milan. I thought "who cares, we'll just reverse the trip" and rebooked our lodgings with that in mind, but (silly me), I've just realized flying out of Florence back to our US-based airport will be a significant headache based on the airline we're locked in with (multiple flights with really tight layovers, so any delay along the chain of flights would completely screw us. That's my nightmare!)

That's causing me to re-evaluate the whole trip! We're already locked into our Como stay from Oct 17-20 because we can't get a refund. But I started thinking, instead of going south maybe we head west from Como into the Dolomites and end our trip in Venice/fly out of Venice?

My wife and I love mountains, hiking, historic architecture, and great coffee/wine. The westward trip ticks those boxes but our travel dates might be a really bad time to visit the Dolomite range, as it looks like most things are closed. Anyone have any experience or insight about those areas at that time of year?

Cruise ships banned (again…..)

There has been so much said and written about the problem of monstrous cruise ships in Venice, not least on this forum. But if the New York Times is to believed, this time a ban is actually being imposed! https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/02/world/europe/italy-venice-tourism-cruise-ships.amp.html

Alitalia Successor Carrier to Begin Flying on October 15

La Repubblica has a long article today which reveals many particulars of the new carrier (Italia Trasporto Aereo) which will succeed to Alitalia on October 15:

https://www.repubblica.it/economia/2021/07/15/news/ex_alitalia_accordo_tra_mef_e_commissione_ue_ita_volera_dal_15_ottobre-310424306/?ref=RHTP-BH-I304495303-P2-S6-T1

Here are a few particulars:

1. The fleet will start with 7 wide bodies and 45 narrow bodies; next year will grow to 13 wide bodies and 65 narrow bodies; and at the end of 2025 will grow to 23 wide bodies and 82 narrow bodies. 77% of the fleet in 2025 will be new generation aircraft.

2. The Company will start with fewer than 3,000 employees (roughly 30% of the current work force), which will nearly double by the end of 2025.

3. There will be two principal "hubs": Roma Fiumicino and Milano Linate.

4. The airline will fly to 45 destinations, which will grow to 74 by the end of 2025. The company will fly to 21 Italian airports.

5. Long-distance routes for winter 2021-2022 will be New York JFK (from both Rome and Milan), Tokyo, Boston and Miami (all three from Rome).

6. In summer 2022, flights will be added to Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Sao Paolo and Buenos Aires.

Do I need a test? (<36h stay)

Hello,

I will arrive in Malpensa ar 1 o’clock in the morning and will have my flight to my home country on the same day, at 21:00 but from Bergamo.

In this case, some arr saying that for less than 36h of stay I do not need to make any test, just to fill that passegner form.

My stay in Italy it’s even less than 24h. Do I really need a test? My airline told me to check the country official information sources, but there isn’t specified at transit section if I need to stay in the same airport or not. It’s just about those 36h.

Thank you!

Intercity Trains Schedule

I was wondering if anyone knows when the Intercity train schedule is released for the end of September, I have searched the forum, and couldn't find a definitive answer. We are travelling from Montepulciano and Naples, and it is the only train journey that I am concerned about making. There is a regionale train from Montepulciano to Rome and then to Naples, but the transfer time is only 11 minutes, and I think that would really be cutting it too close for my comfort. There are a few IC trains in August that would work, do they continue these trains into/through September? Thank you for your help!

Do I need PCR/HAT test when returning from Greece

Hello

We would like to go to Greece last 10 days in June and ask for yours help. My question is:

1. do I need a PCR or HAT negative test for the return flight from Preveza to Italy. We will fly with Volotea. I'm a resident of Slovenia. After landing at the airport I will pick up my car at the parking and driving back to Slovenia.

2. do I need any test before flying to Greece to show to the airline representative at Venice airport?

I know that that I must log in to the Italian application before entering Italy at departure and arrival.

Kind regards

Ales

Summer train schedule

We will be in Italy 8/19 - 9/1. From research here, it appears that Trenitali releases schedule sometime early to mid-June - but I read the schedule doesn’t really differ much, which means I could go ahead and book.

However - I wasn’t sure how altered schedules were from the pandemic and, as tourism is added, would there be more times added to know whether this was the year to wait to book because there probably will be more changes?
