Transiting at Malpensa airport during the night...

Has anyone had any recent experience of flying into Milan Malpensa airport after midnight and then catching the next flight out from Malpensa a few hours later early in the morning? If you have handluggage only, do they allow you to remain airside at Malpensa? I guess in that case, i wouldn't need a Covid negative result (flying in from the UK to Malpensa) till I reach my final destination of Sharm el Sheikh, where you can get PCR tests on arrival for the great price of just $30. This would be my ideal scenario if Malpensa allows it....

Covid test required if transiting only via Italian airport ?

I am planning to fly from the UK to Egypt via a transit flight at Milan Malpensa airport. If I remain within Malpensa airport for just a few hours, before catching my flight to Sharm EL Sheikh, would I need a negative Covid test certificate on arrival at Malpensa or is it not necessary? Egypt allows you to take a PCR test on arrival at the Red Sea airports such as Sharm, Hurghada etc for only $30, which is much cheaper than PCR tests in the UK.

Timing & type of negative covid test required to enter

Hello, my mother is flying into Malpensa from a list D country while transiting through a list E country, and currently the Italian gov website says travellers must undergo a "molecular *OR* antigenic swab carried out within 72 hours prior to entry into Italy and the result of which is negative". I just wanted to be 100% sure that it's ok for her to take the antigen test (throat swabs) over the RT-PCR test; I am wary of telling her that the antigen test is ok (PCR test is 4 times more expensive where she is).

Furthermore, concerning the 72 hour test validity, I read on the Malpensa website "it is mandatory to undergo a swab test for COVID-19 in the 72 hours *prior to boarding*" --> 72 hours prior to boarding sounds very different from "72 hours prior to entry into Italy" as per salute.gov.it. How does one accurately calculate the 72 hour period? is it required that the test be conducted 72 hours from the time her flight arrives at Malpensa? or is it 72 hours prior to departure (which is what I also read on https://www.etiasitaly.com/pcr-test-entry-italy/). thanks for your help..

COVID testing at Malpensa Airport - Milan for return to US

Hello,

Sorry if this has been asked before - I was unable to find an answer by search.

We're planning to head to Italy and Switzerland in a couple of weeks. Our return airport will be Malpensa and we were told that there's rapid PCR testing there offered at a cost of 36 €. Has anyone here gone through the process? We attempted to book our test for our date of return, but had a hard time with the website (we don't read/speak Italian and the website won't translate). Is anyone familiar with what we do for the Codice Fiscale mandatory field?

We've attempted to get help via email (tamponimalpensa@grupposandonato.it), but our questions are only met with a standard form response.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated!

vaccination proof requirements

Hello,

My husband and I are flying from NY to Malpensa Airport on Emirates Air on July 27. (Spending time first in Milan then in the lakes area) We are both fully vaccinated and would have photocopy as well as NYS Pass viewable through QR code on our phones. Based on current requirements, is this acceptable when we arrive in Italy or is more needed? We just want to be prepared.

Thanks for your advice,

D

Covid Test at Milan Malpensa

Hi. Can somebody tell me the procedure of getting a Covid test once I arrive in Italy please? Thanks in advance.

Do I need a test? (<36h stay)

Hello,

I will arrive in Malpensa ar 1 o’clock in the morning and will have my flight to my home country on the same day, at 21:00 but from Bergamo.

In this case, some arr saying that for less than 36h of stay I do not need to make any test, just to fill that passegner form.

My stay in Italy it’s even less than 24h. Do I really need a test? My airline told me to check the country official information sources, but there isn’t specified at transit section if I need to stay in the same airport or not. It’s just about those 36h.

Thank you!

Last minute taxi from MXP to Bellagio?

Hello- we arrive at Malpensa today and did not pre-book a driver to Bellagio. Is it possible to just get a car service or taxi at the airport?

T2 Malpensa closed or not doing easyjet?

I got my easyjet booking confirmation for August 2021, and it says T1 but it has always been T2 in the past.

I am nervous to book my car hire pickup and dropoff (dropoff is early) from T1 in case it switches back to T2 in August.

Any ideas what is happening with T2?

Best way to do 2 days/nights in Lake Como/Milan

I'll be flying from the USA into MXP, landing at 7:30 AM in a few weeks on Thursday. Flight out is Saturday at around 5:00 PM from MXP to France. I mostly want to go to Lake Como, but I was hoping to also see Milan city if possible. I will be using public transport and prefer to stay somewhere that isn't Como city.

If anyone has experience, can you please give some advice on what would be the best way to do this? I was thinking either go straight to Milan and get an early train Friday morning to the lake and then straight to airport Saturday, or go straight to Lake Como and then Milan either late Friday night or super early Saturday and walk around for a few hours before my flight. I am open to skipping Milan if the schedule is too tight - I have already taken pictures in front of many churches and fountains in Europe, and I also don't have interest in museums.

I guess my concerns are using public transportation for such a long trip with a lot of transfers after landing in Milan - I could be held up in immigration for hours and maybe the trains aren't frequent? And also using public transport for a long trip on the same day as my flight out - if I don't make a connection, I could end up stuck somewhere!

Appreciate any insight you can give!

Thank you :)

Como or Lecco?

we're departing to Italy tomorrow. brother and sister in our 30s. all this trip was booked pretty last minute so practically nothing is finalized.

we want to start our trip in the area around the 2 locations I mentioned but can't decide which is better (and we're departing to Italy tomorrow evening so time is short to make up our minds).

we'll be arriving at Malpensa Airport at night (booked a hotel near the airport) and want to go to either Como or Lecco fir about 2 night before returning to Milan.

we'll be using public transport for the entire trip.

as far as transport goes, it doesn't make much difference since the traveling time from the airport to either of them seems similar.

Lecco was my original plan since it seems there are some hikes around which is something that appeals to us.

looking for hikes around como proves more difficult since all search results are about the entire lake como and that's not helping considering we'll be using public transport.

I've read comments here that Lecco is not that attractive of a town. on the other hand it might be less crowded than Como.

I was thinking maybe taking a day and going from Lecco to Varenna and taking the ferry from there to Bellagio and Menaggio.

I can basically the same from Como as well.

but again, can't find any real info on hiking from Como city specifically.

bottom line, I'm confused. I sometimes find that the "prettiest" town us not always the best to stay in.

can you help with any kind of input?
